Monday, July 20
Moon in Cancer
Today is the last day before the New Moon. There isn't much going on in the planetary mix today other than a rather exciting connection between Mercury (the thinking and communicating planet) and Mars (action). With Mercury in Leo, our thoughts are inspired and optimistic. Mars in Gemini is intelligent, witty and curious. Imagine the possibilities! This wildfire hook-up could give us the push and momentum needed for assertive and effective communication. Have something you've been wanting to say to someone, but too afraid to go for it? This just might be your opportunity.
Since this is the last day of the lunar cycle, the darkest day of the dark moon phase, some of you might feel a little "down" or even a little tired or depressed. This is a natural state now. It signals us that it's time to be quiet and rest. Lighting a candle, especially tonight can help us stay connected to the light. The last day before the New Moon is a great day to release your fears and surrender yourself to a higher source. Spend some time outside underneath the black sky and admire and connect to the twinkling stars above. Let go. Let God. I know that's where I'll be...
With the moon still in Cancer, we may feel a little extra vulnerable, insecure or over protective. Reach for higher ground and connect with unconditional love. Cancer is a water sign and quite at home when radiating warm feelings that remind us of our connection to those we love.

Moon in Cancer/Leo
Total Solar Eclipse 29 Cancer 4:35 pm (HST)
For those of you planning on writing New Moon intentions today, make sure to wait until after 4:35 pm (Hawaiian Standard Time) or until after 10:35 PM (EST). Technically speaking, you don't want to initiate something new (unless intuition tells you otherwise) while the moon is still in the Balsamic (dark moon) phase, just as you would not plant new seeds in soil that has not been first prepared.
The first 3 days after the New Moon are the most ripe and potent time for new beginnings. Many of you who wrote in last month know where this New Moon falls in your birth chart. Make the most of the opportunities available to you at this time (if you want to get more in tune with how each cycle affects you personally, schedule some time with me in Paia, and I'd be more than happy to do a reading that maps out the personal meaning of each lunar cycle in your birth chart).
Just remember, this is a day of opportunity. We always have a choice about how we wish to live our lives. We can believe that life is something that just happens to us...or that we can make life happen. Which side do you want to be on?
Saturn (structure, discipline, authority) in analytical and precise Virgo is in a challenging aspect for opportunity and growth to Venus (love, money, values and frienship) in curious, light-hearted Gemini. We all need to set boundaries for ourselves in our various relationships to people, money and things. The challenge is to do so without excessive critism or fault finding. What can you learn? How can you shift your perceptions? Tune in to your inner teacher and guide, then allow your ideas to flow freely, keep an open mind and allow new solutions to tackle old problems. There could be a little trouble in the relationship department today, but nothing that cannot be solved with a little hard work and intellectual genius.
Above all, be observant today. Stay conscious and tune into creating a vision of what you'd like your life to be. Grab a piece of paper, light a candle...write down your wishes. Focus your intent. Manifest your desire under the New Moon energy. If you were baking a cake, what kind would it be? Chocolate with buttercream icing? Vanilla with strawberry mousse filling? It's time to make a list of ingredients. Just as if you were baking a cake, be patient while the "manifestation of your desires" is cooking. Just think how great your "cake" will be once it's time to take it out of the oven. The less attached you can be to the finished product, the sweeter it will taste when it's ready.
Affirmation for the day:
I have the power to make choices in every moment that pave the road to the manifestation of my desires. The more conscious I allow myself to be, the more open I am to divine intervention along the way.

Moon in Leo
Happy Birthday Leo! Got any Leo friends? Whatever you do, don't forget to wish them a happy birthday this month and let them know how great they are and how inspired you are to have them in your life. Leo is ruled by the Sun, which is the center of our Universe. Everything revolves around the Sun...and that special Leo person in your life needs to be recognized for their many talents and creativity, optimism, chivarly, loyalty and charisma, not to mention their superior leadership skills and the childlike fun and joy they bring to our lives! The moon is also in Leo today, so get in the spirit of things. Get out and have some fun today! Connect with your inner child...play, sing, dance! It's also a very powerful time to take focused action on that list of intentions you made yesurday. Take an inspired leap forward today and make your dreams happen!
Affirmation for the day:
When I connect to the unencumbered creative child within, I am surrounded in joy.

Moon in Leo/Virgo
Moon Void of Course 10:28 am (HST) - 5:23 pm
Today could be a little bit tricky. The Sun and Moon are still in Leo and both are in the mood for play! Pluto in Capricorn is insisting that we still have have committments and responsibilties to deal with and may leave us feeling a bit bogged down. You know those bumper stickers that read... "I'd rather be at the beach"? Today could feel like one of those days. Maybe we can get our work done early, then go to the beach! If not, then there's no use in struggling. A good compromise would be finding joy in our work and our duties and obligations to others.
The moon will be void of course for the bulk of the day and could leave some of us feeling a little "disconnected" to things and unsure of our direction. Stay grounded and keep your feet on the ground. Take off your slippers and let your feet literally connect with the ground. When I am feeling a little "up in the air," I find the time to sit down in the grass somewhere (if you're at work, just take 5 minutes of your lunch break and get outside), sit down on the ground, close my eyes and imagine that I am being rooted ~ like a tree ~ to the earth. If I can squeeze in a brisk 5 minute walk before or afterward, that just adds more bang for my buck. The idea is to realign the energy field back to a total mind, body, spirit, soul connection that helps us to move through our day in a balanced, whole and integrated way. A little of this can go a long way.
(P.S. Don't forget to tune into to 1110 am radio on Maui today and listen to my first astrology show from 12 noon - 1 PM. In order to pull it off, I will probably have to spend not just 5 minutes, but my whole morning getting grounded. Yikes!)

Today I surrender all my fears, trust in the Universe and courageously move forward on my path.

Moon in Virgo
After all the fanfare of Leo for the last few days, the solid earthy Virgo moon may be just what we need to sober up a bit and grab a bit of alone time. The Virgin can be a bit of a loner at times and values solitary time and space. A great day to pay attention to the little details of every day life, like removing all that green moldy stuff from your frig, giving your dogs a bath or organizing your desk. We're still riding the tides of the New Moon, so use this day to get organized in your efforts to work toward your goals and make things happen.
Some heated action between the moon (our feelings)and Mars (action, desire) could create a little tension and high energy today, as we strive to achieve whatever we've set out for the day. We could feel more than just a bit frustrated if and when things don't fit nicely into our neatly planned agenda today. Tempers could flare and disappointment could be close at hand. The less you can be attached to a specific outcome today, the more relaxed you will be. The key is flexibility.

I allow myself to experience joy, satisaction and humility while tending to the little details of life.

Moon in Virgo/Libra
Moon Void of Course 1:14 pm (HST) - 7:25 pm
The void of course moon today could be a blessing, as there are a few uncomfortable, yet fleeting connections between the Moon (our feelings), Venus (relationships) and Uranus (urge for freedom). The Moon/Venus connection could leave us feeling unappreciated, taken for granted and pushed to the bottom of someone else's priority list. We may sense our loved ones to be a little detached or emotionally cool today. Once Uranus gets invloved in the mix, we may feel the urge to rebel and break free from people or situations that make us feel boxed in, disallow our original creative expression to flow or otherwise make us feel restricted in any way. Allow the higher expression of Uranus to open your mind to new and innovative ways to change your circumstance, break free from stale and "stuck-in-a-rut" ways of thinking and behaving. If you're not getting what you feel you need from your relationships, try a fresh new approach. Cut yourself and others some slack today and allow a little space and freedom if and when necessary...then do your best not to take it personally if someone takes you up on it.

Moon in Libra
Welcome the Libra moon with open arms today. Libra is the great Balancer. Symbolized by the scales, she seeks equality, peace and serenity and values harmony and beauty. Not only is the Moon in the sign of the lover, the artist, the diplomat and peacemaker today, there is also a sweet and soothing connection between Venus (urge to love) and Chiron (urge to heal) that could help to smooth out any ruffled feathers from earler in the week. Need to apologize for something you said or did, maybe during the drama of the Leo moon or the rebellion of Uranus? Smooth things over today... and bring flowers! Profess your love and keep things light. How you can you show your appreciation today?
