New Moon in Libra
The moon will remain in social Libra all day today.  Don't let the fact that it's also the waxing quarter phase of the moon stand in the way of a balanced and harmonious day.  So, what is the waxing quarter phase about? Remember the New Moon from last Monday?  Did you set any new intentions or set some new goals.  I know that several of you wrote and asked where the New moon fell in your natal chart.  I feel certain that new goals were started all across Maui and even as far as Romania!  I was really impressed!

Today marks the point in the cycle where the Sun (our ego) and the Moon (our emotions) are squaring eachother and creating a challenge to the goals you started last week.  The half moon is gradually gaining in light and the point of crisis has arrived.  This tension created by the angle of the sun and moon drives the momentum of the cycle.  This is the time of making tough decisions at critical moments...the problem solving phase.  As long as your ego energies are balanced with your emotional field, success is close at hand, and you can accomplish anything you have set out to do.  This is the time to "slay the dragon."  If the obstacles seem insurmountable, maybe you need a new plan.  Go for it!

Affirmation for the day:
Having compassion for myself and others is a pre-requisite to a balanced and fulfilling life.

Moon in Libra/Scorpio
For the bulk of the day, the Libra moon beckons us into a social and engaging mood. Libra moons are some of my favorites for activities like going to the hair salon (Libra is the artist and loves anything that is aesthetically pleasing), picking out something lovely to wear or planning a romantic evening with that someone special (Libra is also the lover).  Fresh flowers on the table and harmonious interactions with others are what this moon's all about.  In addition, Mercury in Gemini... and Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius add an extra dose of mental energy to the mix, suggesting also that this might be a day of expressing ideas, sharing our thoughts and healing any relationships snags through kind words and the whispering of sweetness into someone's ear.

Also today, Uranus, the freedom planet joins Neptune and begins its own retrograde period until December of this year.  This signifies a time when we get to review and reflect on our personal belief systems and remove any obstacles that may be holding us back.  This also includes our own behaviors, especially those which serve to self sabotage our own best efforts and keep us enslaved ~ doomed to live life from the sanctuary of the "safe harbor," without experiencing freedom beyond conventional boundaries and socially accepted norms.  Aquarians and those in the last degrees of Pisces may especially notice this as a time to let go of the personal "chains that bind" and threaten our very own sense of freedom, originality and eccentricity...the need to be different ~ to color outside of the lines.  Start an internal revolution and seek to overturn anything that stands in the way of your happiness and joy.

Affirmation for the day:
Love is in the air.  It is all around when we choose to see it, feel it.  Tuning in to the positive flow is all that's needed.  Choice is everywhere.

Wednesday, July 1
Moon in Scorpio
Hold onto your hats!  An interesting day awaits.  Tough to say how it will all manifest. A boat load of planets are involved today to include Venus (love, attraction, money), Neptune (dreams, illusions, imagination), Jupiter (faith, truth, adventure) and Uranus (freedom, rebellion).  Suffice it to say that we can likely expect the unexpected today.  Minds will be alert and infused with an electric, if not eccentric quality.  The moon is also in deep, "penetrating to the core" Scorpio today, adding intensity and a life and death quality to our more weighty issues.   Imagine the brilliant, but mad scientist deeply involved in an altered state of consciousness.  Will he be transformed in some way and "see the Light," or fade away forever into a world of insanity and darkness?  With this kind of intensity and uncertainty in the cosmos today, I would say that this would not be the best day to make any kind of major decisions or make any big life changes. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.  In a few days, it will be easier to see who our hero is.  For now, just take things one step at a time.

Affirmation for the day:
When I surrender to the ebb and flow of life, I can accept all that it has to offer, even if I am unable to understand it at the time.  Surrender = Peace.

Thursday, July 2
Moon in Scorpio
There is a whole day of an intense Scorpio Moon eager to burn down to the truth and penetrate into the heart of any matter.  Use this energy to take out your inner "psychic garbage" and breath new life into the caverns of your psyche.  Let go of what you must in order that you stop standing guard at the gates of your own happiness.  Try not to be too critical of yourself or others in the process.  There is a down side to all the passion and intensity that this sign has to offer, and that can happen when the intensity meter swings into overload.  Not only can we find ourselves stewing in our own inner world, we might also give in to greed, jealousy, envy, manipulative behavior and power struggles.  When and if that happens, we must ask ourselves, which feels better?  Surrendering to the flow or fighting our way upstream?

Affirmation for the day:
Remaining present and conscious allows me to see that life is full of infinite opportunities and a multitude of second chances.

Friday, July 3
Moon in Sagittarius
The energy should feel a bit lighter today and more optimistic as well thanks to the moon's entrance into the philosophical and often lucky sign of Sagittarius.  Do you know anyone who is a Sagittarius?  Have you ever noticed that they seem to have an extra helping of good natured feelings toward others and a general optimistism about life that seems to be missing in so many others?  In our day of prozac and whatever else people may be reaching for, it's too bad we can't all just get a good dose of Sagittarian medicine that makes it easy to feel a zest for life, adventure and good cheer each day.

Also today, Mercury, the planet symbolic of our thoughts and communication leaves the light-hearted and airy sign of Gemini and plunges into the emotionally charged realm of Cancer.  Our thoughts may begin to focus around home, roots, family and our sense of safety and security over the next month.  Unconditional love, caring and the nurturing of self and others are the highest expressions of Cancer energy.  You will know you have veered of course if your thoughts reflect an inner insecurity, a sense of dependency and worry, worry, worry.

Affirmation for the day:
Both worry and guilt are useless emotions.  Both take us away from Peace and neither of them are able to change any situation.

Saturday, July 4
Moon in Sagittarius
Happy Independence Day in America.  It's all about celebrating our freedom.  There is no other sign of the zodiac that values its freedom more than the Archer (Sagittarius) except maybe Aquarius and Aries.  Myself, (with 5 planets in Aquarius, 2 planets in Aries and a Sag rising...LOL!), I find it helpful to remember that Freedom is a two-way street. We must value not only our own need for freedom and independence to do things our own way, be our person, dress the way we like, and generally be our own authentic and genuine selves, with all of our little quirks and eccentricities, but we must also allow others the freedom to do the same.

I believe that everyone is deserving of the need to express themselves in any way that feels authentic to them, as long as it does not trample the freedom of others or bring harm.  So, the next time we find ourselves judging that person with pink hair, fish net stockings and multiple body piercing and tattoos..or the guy dressed in full army gear and ready for battle, or the suit and tie making his way into the building of the controversial savings and loan industry to work for the day, it's best to remember this thought: "to each his/her own."  We all have our own part to play in all this beautiful maddness.  We are all beautiful whether others can see it or not.  We all walk our own path.  No two are the same.  Today, let's celebrate our differences and live and let live!

With that said, who could forget Pluto...that cold little icey planet at the edge of our Universe.  Pluto doesn't want to let go.  Last week, this powerful little drawf planet was challenging both the Sun and the Moon, focrcing us into a reality check of our ego state, not to mention our emotional state.  Today, Pluto challenges Mercury in a way that gives us an opportunity to clear our mind of any unneeded or unwanted stagnant, out-dated, out-moded, judgemental or obcessive thoughts and less than truthful communications.  It could be a bit uncomfortable, as Pluto is not interested in our comfort level whatsoever...according to the planet of power, death and re-birth, we will change and we will transform one way or another!   If the Universe has to throw gut-wrenching and life changing events our way...you know the kind... which force us down to both knees, witnessing nothing less than our full surrender, then so be it.  The more we resist, the more pain we are likely to experience.  That's just the way it is with Pluto.

Affirmation for the day:
Once again, I surrender to the living flow of all life and eternity...and I accept and allow all that it has to offer and am open to both the giving and receiving of all the Magic that the Universe has to offer.

Sunday, July 5
Moon in Sagittarius/Capricorn
For those of us in Hawaii, the moon will be void of course from 9:17 AM to 4:07 PM (Hawaiian Standard Time).  It seems a bit fitting for a Sunday that we are allowed a chance to just sort of unplug ourselves from all the maddness.  All of that transformation and change can be pretty exhausting.  Sometimes, we just need a day (or several) to rest a bit and clear our minds and focus back into our bodies.  What better way to do this than a day at the beach!  Later this afternoon, the moon will come into its full strength in the more sobering sign of Capricorn.  We might find ourselves plugged back in sooner that we would like, preparing for the week ahead and all of its duties, obligations and hard work...so enjoy the down time while you can.

Venus (the money and relationship planet) leaves the earthy and sensual confines of its native sign of Taurus today and enters the more lively and mental expression of Gemini, where she'll remain for the next 3-4 weeks.  This would be a good time to introduce a little fun and frivolity into your current relationships so that they do not become stale and boring (maybe it might not be such a good idea to do so with your finances as well, unless of course you can afford to).  Gemini is bored easily and needs constant stimulation to stay interested.  While in Gemini, the expression of Venus begs for new air, a feeling of youthfulness and a lot of mental buzz and conversation.  Use your imagination and have fun with this light and airy expression of your love nature.

Affirmation for the day:
Change is good, though not always easy...
