Well, here we are...the week of the Full Moon. And ~ it is a lunar eclispe to boot! This is the second of 4 eclipses this year. The next 2 will occur with the second New Moon in Cancer and the Full Moon next month in Aquarius.
Recall that the New Moon is a time for new beginnings. It is the time ripe for the initiation of new ideas, new projects, new personal goals and better intentions.
Next comes the Waxing Quarter Phase. In this phase, the challenge has arrived. Your mind says one thing, but your emotions say another. What will you do?
This is what the Waxing Quarter Phase is all about. It is the part of the process that reveals the flaws in our original plan of action...our original intent.
What do we want to keep, what do we want to abandon and more precisely ~ what is our plan?
This phase is about making decisions and determining our next step.
The changes we put into effect during the Waxing Quarter phase will determine what kind of harvest we can look forward to during the Full Moon phase.
Alas, this week Tuesday, the Sun and the Moon will be facing off with eachother and occupying opposite sides of the sky. The sun is shining full light onto the moon, so that when we look up in the sky, we can see the blazing light of the full moon in all its glory.
In an eclispse, the Earth gets invloved, as well and gets between the Sun and the Moon, creating darkness by blocking the light of the Sun. Hmmm? Maybe this could be symbolic of that Shadow energy I am always lovingly referring to. And, maybe, we can use this Lunar Eclipse to see behind the scenes to discover how our own darkness may interfere with our wish to be and to have and to hold.
The Full Moon phase is a period of culmination in our journey since the New Moon phase. This is the time where we seek fulfillment, illumination and pure vision. It is the time of harvest. It is also a time of balance.
Astrologically speaking, if the Sun and Moon are in opposite parts of the sky, facing off with eachother, then they are in opposite houses in our birth chart. Where ever there is an opposition, there is call to achieve balance.
Let's use an example. Let's say that the Full Moon falls in your 2nd house of worth...that is both your sense of inner and outer wealth ~ your materials resources, your money, your "Stuff," but also your sense of self-esteem, self-worth, as well as your values and principals. That's a tall order, isn't it?
Opposite the 2nd house is the 8th house ~ the house of change, death and rebirth, sexuality, sharing of resources, deep soul union, surrender and transformation.
With a Full Moon in the 2nd house, one might feel at peace with their sense of values, feel satisfied about their sense of worth and have a healthy and vibrant self esteem (or atleast feel satisfied about any progress made in this area). This person might also feel content with what he/she owns and (or doesn't own) and strike a balance between security and change. Security and change? Did I just say that? Shouldn;t it be seciruty versus change? Some of you might be wondering how one can feel secure in the face of change, yet balance between the 2nd and 8th house call exactly for that.
Ironically, by embracing change (8th house), we are able to gain a sense of security and personal integrity and self worth by developing principals and values. We need only to realize when it is time to let go of out-dated values or principals that no longer serve us and/or act as a cover for foolish pride.
Ironically, by releasing our attachment to our "stuff," we are able to live more spiritually and continue to grow and change without being weighed down or becomming a slave to all that we own. This does not mean we have to give up all that we have or own, only that we release our attachment to it. If not, our possessions "own" us and life ceases to flow through its natural cycles.
The Full Moon is the time to ask, "Am I satisfied or happy here (in the 2nd house, per example above)? If not, why not?"
What do you need to change (8th house)? If you are fulfilled and feel content, then congratulations, you have made the appropriate and needed change along the way and now you are being rewarded with a sense of achievement and illumination.
Be sure to give thanks. On the Full Moon, I always stand underneath the sky and the Full Moon and give thanks for all that I have and all the people in my life. Whatever hopes, dreams and wishes I may have, I give thanks as though I have already received. This is a great period and opportunity for maifestation. Just imagine you already have whatever you are seeking. Show gratitude. Be humble. Hold onto that vibe and then wait for the magic to happen!
That is all for this week...
Next week, we will talk about hte Balsmic Moon Phase.
Of course, I always welcome your questions and comments.
Until next week,
